I think the solution to this problem is to have more buses on the road. They should aslo make less seating downstairs and more space for people who are going to stand for a short journey and wheelchair users. Hopefully this will help to ease the problem a bit more.

Sorry if this sounds unsympathetic but the government don't "make" buses. They're built by specialised assemblers to customers requirements taking into account all sorts of business needs. Having driven buses for over 25 years I can honestly say that I have never turned anyone with a buggy away.
At the same time I only ever had one regular wheelchair user, and as there is really no great demand, that is the reason that specialised fittings are so rare on ordinary buses.
Why not allow a bit more time and get there earlier?

I'm sorry but Iv got kids, and I walk or get the train or still get the bus when there are no places for prams. They haven't been here all the time and we got around before without them. Put your pram down like are mothers had to do its a privilege to get on a bus with a pram space not a god forsaken right .Also what happens if your the only person that gets on that bus for the whole journey with a pram what a waste of the tax payers money ,what about all the older people and kids that may need that bus when there is only one person with one pram using it , Look at the bigger picture.

No. Where would all the mothers go if the bus only took pushchairs?
Imagine a bus full of pushchairs, with the mothers forced to follow in the next bus, and hoping that their child's push-chair was dropped off at the right stop, so it was there to meet them when they got off their bus.
The bus should be designed to take pushchairs and the people who push the pushchairs.

why are people being so mean about this question?? i think they should have the same kind of buses going about, but have more room for the chairs. if there are that many people in chairs needing to use the bus then they need to use a different bus in that area that has more room for the people who need it. some counties have a number you can call to tell them you need a bus that can accomodate a chair and they send one out to get you. call the company that serves your county and see what they have. let them know the problem at the very least and maybe they could rework their system to accomodate their customers.

Well first of, the government does not like to spend money on the community...usually just on wars. It also depends where you live (city, state). They actually do provide a bus for pushchairs over here in San Mateo county. You have to go to the city hall and ask for special services.

So - are you saying people without pushchars should walk or something!?
So ridiculous - making a bus for pushchairs. They will be making buses strictly for fat people next... or skinny people - or - hey sorry - you have to wait an hour - only couples allowed on this bus if they are wearing red jackets!

yes of course, one for just women and their bleeding push chairs. as if everyone else in the world doesnt have to put up with enough of your complaints already.
you should be thankful we allow you people on buses. in my day women weren't even allowed to walk the streets, but had to use secret back alleys. and as for children? most of the men in the working club didnt even know what a child was! nowadays all you see is women and children running around as if they had an excuse, nay the right, to be alive!
oh! how it maketh th' ver' blood in my veins boil with the temerity of it all.

They *DO* have buses designed for pushchairs and wheelchairs. But they are Expensive, so there aren't many about. If your that bothered about it then go and complain to someone of a higher authority.
