these things are driving me crazy! They've relocated from my backyard to my front yard (due to my growing puppy) and they are destroying my lawn. dirt piles everywhere! looks like my front yard got bombed. How do i get rid of these things for good? I tried to locate hole by sifting through the dirt but seems as if they cover themselves up. I have cats but alas one is de-clawed and the other kills occasionally, but not enough to keep the problem under control. Any good advice?

The trap Black Hole works also the insecticide or a natural product that is a bacillus you can get at a garden center once its in the soil will control and kill grubs. Also another product that I have used, that has Castor oil , get it the granular form not liquid spread it on the lawn and water I used this and it works retreat about once every month or two. One thing about the bacillus its spread by grubs it takes along time, the more grubs the faster it spreads. So if you want natural this will help

Trails, or runs, are cause by moles. Voles are little critters that burrow in flowerbeds usually and other soil that's been recently cultivated. Moles are a big pain to gardeners and a search of the internet will give you literally dozens of supposed controls. People and experience tell me none of them work in all cases.

Try this: stomp down all the runs today, even if you have to get some friends to help you. Then tomorrow morning, go look where the action is - that is, where the new run has popped up. That's where they're living.

Take your garden hose and shove it into the run as far as it will go and turn it on for several hours. Sometimes the mole family will take the hint and move to the neighbor's house to escape the flood.

Along with the trap answer, I would also suggest getting rid of what is attracting them. Voles typically eat grubs. Get rid of the grubs, the Voles won't have much to eat. Grubs get bad from July to October. Your local hardware store can show you what grub remover is available and how to use it. Not only will it help with voles (and other animals) but help save your lawn in the long run. I had the same problem you had, but now it's better since I've used grub remover and insecticide. Good Luck!

I used to have such a problem with moles, gophers, ground squirrels.....you name it. I found a trap called "The black hole." This trap is the answer. It is foolproof, easy to use, and works every time. Recently, I think the company re-engineered it and now calls it the black box, but same idea. It is placed in line to their tunnel....they crawl into it, and the trap is sprung causing a piano wire to squeeze them around the middle until dead. It works every time. Good luck.
