I already have an active broadband internet at home and i use it with my laptop. I want to connect it to my PC, but my PC doesn't have an ethernet port(which handles broadband cables, since it has 8 wire connections while an ordinary telephone jack has only 4)

Hmm...not much info there. You must be connected ... since you are asking the question. Let's say you have a 'dial up' and you are just curious. If you switch to broadband... you are always connected.. is that the answer that you're looking for?

If the other answers don't work try this actually you should try this first. Open Internet Explorer, click Tools, Click Internet Options, click Connections Tab, Check Automatically detect settings. Click OK. Click OK

You need to choose an ISP (internet service provider) , they will send you what you need- a CD with their software, a modem and a filter (this lets you use internet and telephone on the same line).

Then just follow the ISP's instructions on setting it up.

When your startup screen comes up, there should be an icon which says "Internet Explorer". Right click on that icon and then left click on "properties". Then set your homepage to www.yahoo.com or your internet provider and hit "apply". Then when you left doubleclick on the "internet explorer" icon, you will be connected to the internet and your internet homepage will appear.

You connect with a router and a big black wire that looks like cable TV wire.
