What product best for removing actual rust that doesn't harm paint?

there is a product called ONE STEP. it's in an aerosol can and you'll find it in most auto parts stores in the paint section.

First of all, if you have rust, then your paint is already damaged. Second, you sand off rust or use a steel brush/wool.
