Why do you need to get rid of it? Asbestos is an inert material and it is EVERYWHERE. It's only hazardous if you mess with it.

Leave well alone. If it's heavily painted, give it another coat and forget about it. It would cost you an arm and a leg to get a contractor to remove it.

This will be bonded asbestos which is fairly safe. There are literally millions of tons of it all over the country on roofs etc , farm buildings are made entirely of it. Some councils have facilities where you can get rid of it if you are a householder.
Just take it down using sensible precautions like a dust mask.
Wrap it up in polythene sheet and see if your local council tip will take it.

You need to get hold of a professional. Asbestos is a hazardous material and requires specific removal guidelines and disposal. Unless you have haz-mat training get a pro.

Get an expert to do it or leave it alone for now if you can't afford them - asbestos is not worth the risk to your health or that of your neighbours.
