if it is my transmission will the ins co pay ti get it fixed

Not knowing what kind of car you have this is only a guess but it's got to be either a drive shaft issue(rear wheel drive only) or you've knocked the linkage to you transmission off. Oh, and a broken axle could also be the problem if it was a big tree and it's a front wheel drive car.

Does it go backward?
You might have broken motor/transmission mounts, which could prevent the linkage from selecting the proper gear.

LOL... try pushin on gas.. so ur rear wheels can go over the tree.. im pretty sure after that u wont have ne problems.. have a nice day and change your glasses...

try backing off the tree and then try going forward round it
