Safeguard? Rubbish.l She was no safeguard against the IRA. She was part of the reason for them and she's never opened her mouth about it.
Is it fare to say she's a well-dressed bum, an expensive waste of money. There seems to be no logical reason for those kind of titles. If the british actually looked at the situation from the perspective of equality and reality, oath or no oath, they would put her to sleep. She'd be a dinnerlady in my country.

The British Royalty remain for historical reasons. The Queen has some cerimonial political functions and she attracts tourism.
But I think that the British Royalty will effectively die with her.

Probably Charles or one of his sons will be crowned King, but it is likely that the government will take this opportunity to modernise the monarchy as more political power is centralised in the EU.

From a practical standpoint she brings in a lot of tourist revenue. Secondly, just like any vastly rich person in her own right she can do pretty much what she wants anyway so the fact that she sticks to the royal duties ect is more work than most people who have it made would do anyway. Most importantly she is technically head of State, that means the government and the military, so no head of the government can go mad and stage a coup because if the Queen ordered the military not to do what the gov. of the day ordered they have sworn their oaths to her not the government. In practice it would be interesting to see. You have no such safeguard in America so if you ever get your own mad King George there is no safety net! (If you haven't already!)

The Queen acts as a Head of State. It is more traditional and I think helps to unite the country. If Britain were not a monarchy, I imagine the British people would be hating each other over political differences as much as Americans do.

i'm a Royalist. this is in our custom to be governed over by technique of a Monarch. Queen Elizabeth II replaced into appointed to the throne by technique of the traditions of our advantageous united states. If we abandon out traditions, then our united states might want to do not have any id, and be forgotten in the international. The Royal kinfolk do attraction to travelers, and many contributors of the Royal kinfolk do a lot paintings for charities. i'm in the RAF and joined because I somewhat have an outstanding sense of patriotism for the united kingdom. (no longer in basic terms England, the full of the united kingdom). this may sound old or cheesey to three, yet I truly joined for Queen and united states. (besides, might want to we truly want a President???)

The royal family are leeches on society and are iconic of the oppression and injustice that spawned them in the first place. They do generate revenue through tourism but at a great cost. Their only real use is to satisfy the needs of those people who are stupid enough to love and idolise them.

They should be stripped of their money which they never earned in the first place and relocated to temporary housing, placed on the council housing list and also placed on job seekers allowance. Buckingham palace should be converted into something useful and humanitarian such as housing for the homeless or maybe a drug rehabilitation centre. Alternatively it could be converted into luxury apartments which would generate a huge amount of money that could be used to combat various social injustices.

It is morally repugnant that one family can have so much un-earned wealth while there are so many social injustices in this country, such as children growing up with inadequate diet, education and housing, people living on the streets, old people with inadequate care and so on etc etc etc.

It beggars belief that the pro monarchy brigade are too stupid to see that the price society pays for a bit of royal waving is far too high.

She is our head of state.

Every fighting man in our military swears their allegiance to the queen above that of Parliament or the people.

Every four years the queen opens Parliament, if she refuses than "legally" the government cannot take power.

She still wields a lot more power than many suspect.

Surprisingly - in a way - many people view royalty as a safe guard against extremism. For instance, if a fascist government ever took power as has almost happened in France, than the queen could refuse to allow them into government - and expect the support of the military.

You're Irish?

Then why the **** does it matter whether the UK has a Queen or not seeing as you don't live here? Might I suggest you mind your own friggin business? Whats it to you?

Yeah we pay taxes. Some of them go to the Royal Family. A hell of lot more of them go to keep Muslim hate preachers like Captain Hook and his vile family in the "style to which they are accustomed" and to provide housing and benefits for lazy slobs who have no intention of ever working, and to provide medical treatment for losers who have deliberately damaged their bodies through drink and drug abuse. Now that pisses me off way more than the Royals.

In answer to your question, Well the Royal Family are just part of the UK. Like Guiness is part of Ireland. I couldn't imagine a UK without a Royal Family and I for one am quite happy to have them.

And no before you start bullshitting about "The English" I'm Welsh.

God Bless the Prince of Wales.

And as for people having "unearmed Wealth - my God there are LOADS of people with unearned wealth (or wealth "earned" by crime and deceit or by playing football) in this country, spending £500 on Prada Handbags whilst families are homeless and kids are going hungry - you'd have to tackle them too. In fact, lets go communist - is that what you want?

I`d rather have a Queen/King and a Parliament than a mickey-mouse president or dictator.

As for you being Irish, why did you have to mention that, does it make you feel good.
Be a good boy and stay in Ireland!

She is the head of the establishment. An establishment that is designed to oppress Muslims and keep poor people in their place. She is an evil woman and her husband is the head of the Freemason society. She is an evil evil woman. You all think you live in a free society but it is all lies. You think only what the establishment want you to think. They murdered Diana because the establishment did not want her to marry a Muslim. They are corrupt evil evil scum. She has blood on her hands and deserves to die. I hope she dies and then it will be the end of the head of the establishment. Lets hope the establishment will crumble and in its place we can all take the correct path. The Queen is a murderer.

The royal family is great entertainment. They sell lots of magazines and newspapers. Otherwise, they really serve no purpose. I prospose that the US should have competing Royalty with no functional use. I will volunteer to take the positition of King.
