Imaginative friend told me that a single butterfly fluttering its wings in the Amazon basin could eventually, through the causality of the winds, create a hurricane in Indonesia. I have heard this before but have been unable to track it down. Can you help please?

I wonder if this myth has ever been checked out on mythbusters? You should see. Maybe they can do a show on it!

I heard something similar to that but I still don't think it's plausible. It's one of those it-works-on-paper theories. For one thing, has it ever happened? Think that maybe Hurricane Katrina was started by a stupid little butterfly fluttering its stupid thin wings? I don't think so.
