Maybe it's the pressure now that his excuses are not there because I know he's a good goalie..but.

How in God's name can you evaluate this trade already?
Neither one has even had the chance to prove themselves yet!
I think Bertuzzi will do well in Florida..........but I think in the end Vancouver will have won this trade!
If Vancouver can get some more balanced scoring.........then Vancouver can maybe do some damage!
I think the real question is how well will Auld do in Florida......?

It's funny how we are evaluating this trade at this point of the season but really lets look beyond Bertuzzi and closely watch how well Alex Auld will do in Florida this year. Already he has somewhat proven he can play at the NHL level with winning 4 of the Panther's 5 games so far. If anything I truly believe that this trade is more about the goaltending rather than Bertuzzi scoring a hundred points and is able to keep his plus/minus respectable. I think by the end of it Florida will be pleased of the trade cuz in the long run it will be about Auld and I suspect Bertuzzi wont be in the Panthers long term future plans...I feel unfortunate that Auld had to go through the mental anguish playing under Crawford, a coach who I feel never had the confidence in Alex to be the number one netminder and even with Cloutier's injuries always considered Auld just a filler. In Florida not only will Alex get the oppurtunity to show more but he will definitely gain the confidence from a great coaching staff including Ed Beflour...yes that's right...many felt signing Belfour was the answer to the Panther's goaltending gap after Luongo, technically thats true, but only in a coaching aspect...what a real treat it will be for Auld to gain the knowledge from an NHL veteran during practices and morning skates from Eddy the Eagle...Honestly did many think that Eddy was going to play 50 to 60 games this year?..I don't think so...for what Ed Belfour signed this year he clearly is in Florida to help or in better terms "coach" Alex Auld for the duration of this season and maybe the next.
Bert for Luongo?...lets make sure in any trade evaluations that all players involved in the deal are included..remember Bertuzzi I believe signed a short term deal with the Panthers and honestly I feel he will leave after that contract is over.
But with Alex Auld in it for the long run with the Panthers I know he will be a top 10 goaltender in the league in the near future and the Florida Panthers can look back at this trade and see that the deal was not all about Bertuzzi and Luongo.
Yes... Yes... I know... I know, Lukas Krajicek and Bryan Allen were involved in the deal too and they too will make an impact in this trade as well!

Luongo had a bad game against San Jose but he was great in all the previous games. So far he looks to be a great acquisition. Bertuzzi is also playing well for his new team but that doesn't mean that we (Vancouver) didn't need the change.

However those are only very early results. There's still a long way to go before we can make any strong case one way or the other. Bertuzzi can be one of the best forwards in the league when he wants to be but he's too unpredictable. I think Luongo will help our team more in the long run and I think that he will be more of a stabilising influence once he gets settled in.

No. Luongo was a good catch. It is the rest of the team that sucks.

They basically have one scoring line - that use to be the number 2 line, and a inexperienced defense. And a new coach that figures they can make it as a defensive team, probably because they have no scoring power, but it aint going to cut it when you don't have the defense that can back up the goalie.

Bertuzzi was struggling in Vancouver because of media was watching his every move. In Florida, it's easier; he has more breathing space. I think Luongo will be good for Vancouver. He was good in Florida but his team sucked, now he can actually get somewhere with the Canucks. Vancouver has long lacked solid goaltending, so they should be a good fit.

No. I think Luongo will be good for Vancouver in the long run but for now he's doing ok but not horrible.

Luongo let in a few easy goals against the Sharks and is showing hes weak on one on one but overall the teams defense sucks and the season is to early to judge to quickly.

just ONE bad game and you say luongo wasn't worth it?

if anything so far, he would be WORTH it. it was just the game against san jose where he played badly and, plus, our defense would just collapse infront of the net as well.

everybody was nervous from the first season opener. give the guy some more time and you'll see what he can do for the team.

It's too early to find out. All I know is that he's a great goalie who hasn't made it to the playoffs and the rest of the team are mediocre so far.
