It sounds like your steering rack needs replacement. Do you have extended warranty coverage on your vehicle?

Is it inside the vehicle? It may just be clearance issue between the steering wheel trim and the column trim. The plastic could be rubbing together. Also, there is a rubber boot that surrounds the steering shaft where it goes through the firewall, this may be out of place or binding on the shaft. Some lithium lube here may stop the squeak. I have also had rubbing noises coming from clocksprings behind the steering wheel as well.

Does it have a center push horn on your steering wheel? Sometimes there is a ring that is under the steering wheel that is for the horn. The contact from the horn switch could make that squeaking noise if it's bent or dust or something gets in there. It contacts the ring so your hornhas a ground when you turn the wheel. Ever see a car that the horn wouldn't work unless the steering wheel was in any other position than striaght up and down? That's the ring I'm talking about.

For a quick way of seeing where the steering wheel squeak appears to be coming from, try spraying the moving area below the steering wheel with something like WD40, CRC552 or silicone spray. Try one spot at a time to try and isolate the cause.

It maybe the power steering fluid. But you would here that from underneath the car. Sorry I nothing much about Fords. I don't like Fords. Sorry for having trouble for a car that's only a 02.' LOL.

First off you should check the power stearing fluid. Usually when it is low you will hear a whining sound as you turn the wheel. Second, im almost sure unless you turn the wheel and you know its coming from the stearing rack itself it might be something else. but i would be certain to check the power stearing fluid.

that is referred to as the "Ford Ghost Sweek". you have sealed grease fittings and you may't inject an new grease. you need to truly make a small decrease and fill the boot with BG enforce. that is one a short lived restoration. notwithstanding that is all I genuinely have.
