Globalisation can help poverty, by creating new jobs in areas that need them. So a new Mcdonalds in a poor city provides work not only for people "flipping burgers" but also for construction workers, cleaners, managers, etc.

Considering "offshoring", it has had made a significant difference to some poor former British colonies, where people can still get a decent education & speak English. However, as a software designer in the USA it has NOT helped my poverty - I'm out of work for the third time in 5 years & starting to look for a new profession.
