In your folder window select:
View > Toolbars > Standard Buttons

If every icon (Home icon, favorites icon etc.) have gone, left click along the line that has file, edit and that and click on the standard buttons (which should not have a tick next to it) and all of them should come back.

right click the bar at the top where the buttons shoudl appear and then click customize, on the left you will find the back and forward buttons, move them over to the right and thats you sorted.

go into internet explorer and then go to Veiw ----> toolbars ----> and standard buttons...make sure there is a check mark by standard buttons!!
