George W. Bush is the worst I have ever seen in my 60 years on earth. No other has taken the office of president to start a war for his own personal gain.

James Buchanan(dem) 1857-1861
He was perhaps the coldest and most uncaring man to hold the office. He was openly racist, when he was elected he began ignoring everyone. His own party hated him, because he would not listen to them or enforce any of their ideas. The South had several problems they addressed and he either turned a blind eye, or did something to purposely p*ss them off every time. He alone turned the whole nation against the Democrats, even though Franklin Pierce did just as little for our country while in office, Buchanan's harsh uncaring mannerisms just turned everyone off. The people elected a nobody with no credentials for President, just because he wasn't a Democrat. Lincoln was wishy-washy he wanted everyone to be happy with him, did nothing good for us economically and was openly indifferent to the plight of the slaves. The only reason he issued the Emancipation Proclamation was because with the South dead, he didn't have to worry about sensitivities, and since the North was obviously opposed to slavery, this was an excellent way to get props and secure his legacy. Freeing the slaves was the only good thing he ever did. But Buchanan is the only President that can realistically be blamed for the secession of the southern states.
Bottom line, for single-handedly destroying the credibility of a political party in the eyes of the nation, making your own party hate you, creating a rift in the nation that would lead to it's division for the sake of your own ego, and dragging the US through a recession at the worst possible time, you Mister James Buchanan are the worst American President

Well, Nixon wasn't great for the reason that he tried to circumvent the political system and fix the election, and he was opposed to free speech if it didn't agree with his actions.

However, Jr. Bush is really quite bad because he uses excuses to do what he wants that turn out to be lies (weapons of mass destruction anyone?) turns peoples tradegies into reasons to start war even when that means killing innocent people in another country, when America is not AT WAR with that country but trying to track terrorists (just as innocent people were killed in America, do 2 wrongs really make a right?). The worst thing though is that he is a Christian Zionist, meaning that he believes the end of the world is near and in order for the end of the world to occur, all the jews must return to Isreal. Which means there must be an Isreal, so the US will automatically support any Isreali activities...do you need more reasons?

Buchanon was generally regarded as the worst president:
1) He failed to recognize the slide of the south toward the confederacy and away from the union;
2) He failed to act to curtail the activities of the northern anti-slave activists, which only inflamed the south;
3) He allowed Congress to run roughshod in entering free-states to the union, thus diminishing the power of the south and forcing them into war.

My opinion would be for Dwight Eisenhower:

1) He allowed the Soviet Union to expand its grasp on Eastern Europe and make inroads to Western Europe (Berlin, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Greece)

2) He allowed the Soviet Union to gain footholds in Indochina, Africa, and the Middle East;

3) The US had an enormous nuclear missile advantage in both number and payload. He failed to take advantage of this and let the USSR dictate terms instead of pressing the advantage to destroy communism;

4) His economic policies allowed the growth of large and corrupt labor unions who put into effect pernicious contracts, the effects of which we are seeing today with the diminution of the manufacturing base;

5) Latin America became a socialist, anti-American enclave under his watch.

6) His national highway system enlarged the system of eminent domain which has grown to Leviathan levels.

It would have to be Lincoln.

He destroyed the Union by illegally invading the Sovereign State of Virginia, destroyed and subjugated the South in the process, although the theory of the entire war was that they were still American Citizens.

Carter's a close second.

I disagree with the one who said Polk wasn't a good President. He was, in fact, the best we ever had, by one standard at least. He made four campaign promises, kept all four, and did nothing else whatsoever.

I think when the polls come in Its going to overwhelmingly favor GWB as the worst. Our Foreign Policy sucks around the world. He is a Marvrick going it alone. He started a war in Iraq that was unjustified by us here at home and the world majority. He also emptied the coffers of the USA in the process. Now people around the world hate us and see the USA as bullies. He just 'Ucked up everthing. to put it mildly.

In my lifetime Jimmy Carter. He cut back on the military at a time when the U.S. was just beggining to face up to their problems in the middle east. We are fighting there today because of his actions in the 70's

It's a pretty close tie between Bush Jr. and Nixon. Nixon was almost impeached (for something serious, and not stupid and trivial like Clinton's near-impeachment), while, Bush...well, just take a look at the world today.
