hey,

my first real listening to rock music started with this silly pop-punk stuff. i wanted more intensity, so i tried to listen to metal, but i hated it. then i listened to emo, and, well, thats just horrible stuff. so then i started listening to Rise Against. Freakin AWESOME!! they're melodic and intense at the same time. bad religion is good except that they are atheists. i'm a catholic. what are some good melodic punk rock bands?

Your best bet is to look into bands that are big, but not quite radio big. This means bands off of labels like Epitaph and Fat Wreck, though you're going to find a lot of pussy punk on those labels now too. I'd recomend Anti-Flag, Pennywise, Refused, The Deviates, 88 Fingers Louie (some of these guys are in Rise Against now), and Comeback Kid to name a couple.

Your biggest problem is going to be that punk isn't really pro-religion. You might like Underoath, they're big fans of Jesus, but I think their music sucks.

Also, listen to Against Me!'s first two records.

Yeahh... I'm quite agree with you about this genre. However, i didn't under grade other types of music, because the others have their own fan.

melodic hardcore punk rock -
May be you should try to listen various range that could blend into this genre,
example : Kitaro -> Under Voilet moon -> Papa rouch.

How about "Helloween"? - 80's band?
