You absolutely do save electricity by turning incandescent lights off when not in use.

It is not true that you save electricity by leaving incandescent lights on rather than switching them off. Incandescent lights are the standard, inexpensive bulbs which produces light by having a filament that glows. In the summer, you also will save money on electricity used by your air conditioner by keeping incandescent bulbs off as much as possible, because they produce a lot of heat in the process of producing light.

Id say switch them off when not needed. Lights these days only use up 4 watts to 11 watts if you use the enery saving types, so it will only come out as cents in your electric bill.

Still 4 cents times 20 hrs per day more will add up to a few dollars paid to the energy company that you dont need to spend.

properly thanks for the comments so a concepts all. I somewhat have low voltage fittings which use MR16 bulbs and that i purchased transformers that are dimmable. notwithstanding i might want to have were given countless the basic swap's incorrect. i presumed all you do is upload up the finished Watt for the variety of light fixtures you've and then get a dimmer swap which has a Watt score above that. e.g. For 4 x 50 Watt I somewhat have used 250 Watt dimmer modules. And for 6 x 50 Watt I somewhat have use a 400 Watt dimmer module. They do hum I somewhat have said notwithstanding someone suggested to me that once you dim the light fixtures the version in means is in basic terms used up by technique of the dimmer module subsequently why it receives warm! i visit seem at Toolstation ( who I somewhat have used lots in this challenge) yet i did not comprehend that this replaced into so complecated in any respect. i presumed dimming the light fixtures might want to shop electrical energy undeniable and straightforward. yet issues not in any respect seem so easy as you are able to assume :) thanks so a concepts all!

no. keeping lights on uses more electricty and also uses more bulbs. bulbs don't draw more electricty when being turned on. electric motors draw more current to start, but not light bulbs. turn bulbs off when you are not in the room.
