Hmm, interesting analogy...great way to teach students...my teacher used the example of an ancient city with a wall and soldiers and a king, etc. This way is a modern adaptation of the same.
The cell membrane would either be the plastic casing, OR the cell phone cover, depends on your cell phone (ha ha).
For a PLANT cell, the cell phone cover would be the cell membrane an the plastic casing would be the cell wall, but animal cells don't have a cell wall, just the membrane.

the 'cell' in cell phone corresponds to the cells which the base stations cover. If you look at a map showing base stations, the radio coverage of each looks like a honeycomb. It has nothing to do with the phone itself.
So the cell membrane in this case are the points in space where the signal strengh of two adjacent base stations are the same.

if your talking about the cell membrane aka cell wall. it would be the cell phone cover because it prevents unwanted materials from entering the cell.
