A friend of mine is trying deperately to get his adult daughter out of the house. She's thirty something and hasn't worked for years. She just fritters away her time and freaks out when ever he even mentions working. No boyfriend or man in the picture either.

What is up with this? Do you know anyone like this? I always thought that this was an embarrassing way to live, but maybe times have changed?

my son moved back home after a break up at 26 but i gave him a 3 mos. deadline to find his own house,we helped get him into his own place with giving him a down payment. He was in no hurry but we were.He has had a job since 16 and just liked the conveniences of home.Unless there is huge issues no one would want that lifestyle!

I know many adults who still live in their parents basement, only difference is they work for a living. In this unstable economy it is extremely hard for a single person who does not earn a good salary to live alone away from the family homestead. A girlfriend of mine recently put her house up for sale and told her daughter she was not moving with her, to get on with her own life. It was a little harsh, but the girl has now found a job and her own apt.
