Babe Ruth saved baseball (1919 Black Sox scandal) and he was an outstanding pitcher before he became a great hitter.

I would have to say Babe Ruth. He could play any position and was/is the best player in basball. MJ isn't even the best player in basketball let alone better than then Ruth.
