He should stay on the medication until he changes his lifestyle to keep the BP down. This is acheived with 3 things. #1 low glycemic diet #2 moderate excercise #3 high quality nutritional supplements, but until he decides he wants to change the medicine from the doc is the only thing keeping his BP down. Have your grandpa also do a homocystine count in his blood. He may ahve to educated his doctor on tis but it is well worth his time. You can research the vitamin studies and why homocystine is important by yahoo searching for jama (the journal of the american medical association)

Hi, If your Grandpa's Bp is responding to the medicine, that's great. But the reason it's working is because he needs it. He should not stop taking it unless his Dr. says to. Uncontrolled Bp can cause many problems, like stroke and heart attack. Best of luck to your Grandpa. P.s. If this particular Rx. is very expensive there are many types of meds that are cheaper and work well. r.n.

Never just stop taking blood pressure medication, because a common side affect of this is death. Your granpas BP is normal becasue the drugs are working, but they only work for 24 hours, so once he stops them it will only take a couple of days for his BP to rise again. If he does stop taking them suddenly then his BP is likely to rise to a rate that is higher than when he first started taking his medication.

Dear, once a person is on BP medicine, it has to continue for life. And it has no side effect. He must not discontinue. But consult the doctor for the correct dosage required for him.

Aneurodoc has the excellent answer, maximum finished. Like he says, your BP is commonplace given which you're taking the meds. (It does sound a splash low to me, yet i'm no longer a record.) as quickly as I examine your question, it jogged my memory of people who're on antidepressants and commence feeling greater desirable. Then they are saying, "i do no longer want this, i think high-quality." the challenge with it quite is, reducing off antidepressants can be quite risky, and likewise in case you are attempting this, sometimes they do no longer artwork lower back next time you attempt them. I haven't any thought if BP drugs is the comparable or no longer. i'm thinking why your surgeon pronounced you need to cut back your meds yet did no longer enable you understand the excellent thank you to pass approximately it. Your surgeon who's prescribing those meds ought to have the skill to declare what to do first, how long to attend and watch till now decreasing lower back, and all that. No? i'm in simple terms appalled that your surgeon pronounced you may cut back your meds yet did no longer enable you understand information on the thank you to pass approximately it. Jeeze. medical doctors have like 10 or 12 years quite expert coaching. He tells you its ok to resign yet permits you to artwork out how? And to me, it is not proper if human beings have performed it, they are no longer you.

No. He will need to stay on his medication to maintain a healthy blood pressure. If he comes off of it, his BP can go sky high again and he could have a heart attack or a stroke. It could cause him to die. It is very dangerous!
