whats a good router I can use for work from home?

Linksys or Buffalo make great routers.
Cisco is the #1 router used by professionals, very expensive. They bought Linksys. Linksys was very good and now they are an extension of Cisco.
Go to newegg.com, look under routers, the will let you sort by most popular, price, and they give great user reviews.
I am guessing you want a combo wired/wireless router since you have a laptop.
