You will be fine. Just start taking folic acid now (if you haven't already started). I would not take any other supplements like the fish oil unless a doctor has recommended it. My doctor recommended that I take a multivitamin with folic acid. Go to a pharmacy and ask a pharmacist. They have a book of what is safe for pregnant women and are very helpful. Your baby will be fine, I started taking folic acid when I was 6 weeks pregnant already and am now due in 2 weeks. Congrats and relax.

The folic acid helps to prevent neuro tube defects in the baby(spina bifita and such) You should take 1mg folic acid supplemet, as well as a prenatal vitamine, ideally before you even get pregnant, but from as soon as you find out until the baby is born, although my doctor told me after the 3rd month of pregnancy you can stop with the folic acid supplement and just take the prenatal vitamine, along with well balanced diet. Hope that helps

I was prescribed folic acid BEFORE I got preg. I have to take it all through my pregnancy. If you was not told to take it you should discuss this with your doctor. Although I don't think it will hurt you for taking it It is suppose to be god for you and the baby. If possible you should take folic acid before getting pregnant just to make sure the baby gets it from the very beginning, but I'm sure your baby will be fine. The doctor will prescribe you some prenatal vitamins to take throughout your pregnancy and even afterwards if you breastfeed.

keep taking the folic acid until the start of your 2nd trimester, then start taking the pregnancy multivitamins. That's what my doctor told me, he said that we dont really need that much iron and zinc n stuff cause really it'll just make us sick but to start taking the multivitamins when your about 12 to 14 weeks cause thats when your vitamin levels start to go down and is used most effectively.

drs recommend starting prenatal vitamins 3 months before pregnancy. you should start those asap, they have folic acid in them. it will not harm the baby that you haven't been taking them. you should take the vitamins until 3 months postnatal.
congratulations on the baby.

You can take up to 1mg once per day for the entire duration of your pregnancy. You should also be taking prenatal or daily vitamins once a day also.
They prevent some spinal problems and neuro conditions.

Congratulations!

When you go to the OB he or she will give you "PRE-NATAL" supplements to take & there will be sufficient Folic acid in that.
