I need information as to which hotel in seattle is within walking distance to public transportation to visit places like pike's place , space needle and the shopping areas.

I also need to rent a car for 2 days while in seattle. Is there a hotel near by close to the car rental company ?

Any downtown hotel will do. Once you are downtown, the buses are free during the day and you can pretty much get on and off as many as you like. Seattle is very walking city. It's not that big, so usually, it'll take you as long to walk somewhere as to wait for the bus.

If you are looking for a hotel outside the city, you might try the Hotel Nexus (used to be the Ramada Inn) at Northgate. They have a free downtown shuttle.

There are several Enterprise locations near there, and they can actually pick you up. Hope this helps!

Parking is available but expensive in San Francisco. I suggest starting by making a list of the things you want to see/do. Then, using something like Google Maps, identify where those places are. If you will be staying in San Francisco, and if you will be concentrating on the main tourist attractions, you can probably get by with public transportation. But if you plan to get outside the city, you will either have to arrange for some kind of group tour (possible, but not easily done in advance), are else opt for a rental car.
