The different departments in the hospital where I work have to decorate pumpkins for a contest and we have to buy our own pumpkins and supplies and I was just wondering what would be a good "theme" for ours. We always do poorly in any kind of decorating contest. Any suggestions are welcome.

I won a company contest by carving the local professional football teams logo last year. I did the horse head for the Denver Broncos. It took some time but I won because men liked it. A tip from professionals is to start from the bottom of the pumpkin, carve a whole in the bottom and clean out the glop from there. It leaves a professional look. also, to finish it, wipe it with vegetable oil for a shiny finish. If you carve it just the day before it looks fresher, put wet paper towells around and in any cut areas so it will look fresh. Try looking at pumpkin carving or decorating sites for ideas and use a small sharp knife. Have fun and good luck.

you can always go back to nature and stick leaves and flowers on it
or bling it up with sequins, shiny beads and rhine stones!

best of luck!
