US laws are more stringent than the laws in other countries. Serial killings are a cowards way of getting revenge or gaining power over others in a way they need to compensate for their weaknesses.
In Brazil, if a girl of night gets killed, no one cares.
If someone is killed in Brazil it is easier for it to go unnoticed or even detected.
Even if it is discovered it is not publicized as it is in America.
Be glad they don't publicize it as much, because then you get the copy cats.
A thought you can ponder. These serial killers in America would probably be gang leaders in other counties. US laws catch or prevent them from becoming gangs.
Sorry, I just read the no name from England...you so funny. Every hear of Jack the Riper, and I can name a few more if you would like. English......you so funny.
Hope this helps.

Its way to complex to fit into an answer here but if you google serial killer psychology you'll get plenty of info...its fascinating stuff.
If you're really interested there are countless books on the subject so maybe you could hit the library and see what they have. A good one to start with is called "The Serial Killers: A Study in the Psychology of Violence" by Colin Wilson

I think the answer lies with the type of peoples who populated the US. With the US being the land of immigrants, what type of immigrants have contributed to its gene pool? The wandering adventurous types, the types not to content to sit and accept their circumstances etc. It takes a lot of guts to up and move to a whole new country...especially when it was still being pioneered. Yes, I think Americans are different, but not necessarily in a bad way.
Some Europeans also sent their petty criminals and bankrupt citizens there as a "punishment" and all of those influences help set up the next generation and so on.

That's an interesting question, perhaps the answer lies within the big business's such as: Kellogg's, Post, General Mills, and Quaker Oats... I've always been suspicious of these big "Serial Co's" and I don't understood why any one would want to kill serial? Albeit I have often pondered the thought of choking the life out of that irritating Coo-Coo Bird, and that just too cool bear, "Sugar Bear"...

I accept as true with the common concept of no longer advantageous vile those with notoriety, yet while human beings could be made attentive to what those all of us is like,it may help them to evade or document the subsequent Jeffrey Dahmer.

Hah! No name from England's answer is hysterical! What about Colin Ireland-the homosexual serial killer? I don't know what it is about some of those people in England, they have selective memory!

I think as a society and the expectations that go along with it creates sociopaths. These people cannot and do not agree with, or want to "fit-in" to what a society stands for.
