I've been dealing with a lot of seriously bad crap lately, some of you might recall some of my previous questions. But the events raised some questions in my mind. I know many people believe that vengeance is completely wrong, and hell, in court it wouldn't fly at all. But I honestly believe that depending on the crime it can be very appropriate for solid and harsh vengeance. After all, it's not like the Police Department does anything worth mentioning.

Well, the one thing you can say about capital punishment is that that particular perp won't do that particular crime ever again. Doesn't make the world a better place, necessarily, but it certainly makes that one little corner of it a bit safer.
The "turn the other cheek" "Vengeance is mine, mumbles the lord" kind of shinola is the kind of maundering one expects from perpetual victims.
If you KNOW that the bad guy is guilty and the system is not taking action, then you would be justified (morally, not legally) in exacting vengeance.
But (and it is a collossal caveat) certainty is hard to come by, and there will be repercussions from vengeance (either by the system or by the perp's confederates) that must be weighed.
In the end, evil is frequently its own reward - violent criminals tend to die violently, whether from a former victim or from one of the aforementioned confederates, and early.
Don't be stupid.
Good luck.

Plotting vengeance is destructive to yourself. It keeps you in a frame of mind that you become obsessed and cannot function normally. You also have to pay the consequences of that vengeance whatever that may be. It could turn out your offender benefits from your vengeance more than you do.

I really think it is better to let go and avoid people who inflict 'bad crap'.

You've opened a terrible can of worms here, it's not easy to be nice when people aren't nice 2 you. You hafta keep YOUR moral standards whatever that may be 2 you!

It also depends on situation. don't do things out of anger, think first.

Only the Lord.

(Romans 12:19-21) Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says Jehovah.” 20 But, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink... 21 Do not let yourself be conquered by the evil, but keep conquering the evil with the good.
