Personally I think if we were all like that...well, the world would be a better place.

Unconditional forgiveness is perhaps the greatest of all man's attributes. Too bad our world leaders and politicians can't practice such values.

I think that is true that the world would be a better place, but if we were all like that then probably half of what happens out there would not happen.

I think the Amish have a very strong faith and value system...I just hope that the publicity has not opened their community up to further assaults against it by the crazies of the world.

They're just following what Jesus preached. Forgiveness and a realization that this life is meant to be temporal that what goes on in this world is secondary compared to seeking eternal life in heaven.

"Tonight we'll not only speak to the members of the Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church. We'll not only speak to Catholic people tonight, Methodist, Church of God or Christ or no particular denomination in no particular city. Tonight we speak to the whole nation tonight our message. Drop The Hate! Forgive Each Other! I'm calling on everyone tonight to join hands and walk together in the light. I want to be in that number. I don't know you now but i've made up my mind to drop the hate." - Intro from "Drop The Hate" by Fatboy Slim on the "Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars" cd.

I agree with you. It takes strong faith to be able to forgive a person for such an atrocious act of violence. Forgiveness can help take away the hurt of such a loss, but I am sure they are still mourning the loss of their children.
The world is not ever going to be like that.

What an example of the belief from this group known as the Amish. It's simple for us to hear, but truly a strong gesture of their lifestyle.

I agree, it gave us all a time to pause and think hmmm. Too bad we weren't all as forgiving. If this were an Amish world, what a wonderful world to be in.

This is what their faith tells them to do. And I agree that it would be wonderful if we all were like this. But the world out there is not a wonderful place. If we here in America were all like this, the rest of the world would destroy us. Because they are not like this! It is the Bulldogs of the world that protect it form the mentally ill. Just ask Hitler. And there are plenty of Hitlers out there. Remember that ONE teacher that was bully? Or that one cop in your town? The big bully kid down the street? Saddam Insane? That nut in Iran? Or the one in North Korea? Thank God for Bulldogs. We need more of them.

Yes it would be nice, but it would also be disaster for us all!

I admire the courage they have to forgive such person who could do that to their innocent children..We all could learn a great lesson from this..to be able to forgive allows us to move forward in our own life's..If we chose to carry such anger with us against other people it only destroys our life..In forgiving which takes to many of us so long to do that it breaks us down so bad..
We can learn to forgive but we never forget..

If we were all like that there would be no freedoms left in America. They are free to indulge violence because they are protected by others. What they did was commendable but not always the right thing to do. Nothing comes from negatives but failure to deplore violence encourages it.

I agree. I am amazed and awed by their courage and strength. Most of our crimes are those out of revenge for something that we feel is wrong. I mean, look at the shooter. He committed the crime because of a past situation.
