back when halloween first started people would eat lots of apples. apples were in the games, apples were to eat ect. They also ate potatoes. when I wanted to have traditional halloween food what I did was get some potatoes, wash them poke a hole in them, roll them in oil and then bake them. when they were baked I cut a hole in the middle and stuffed it with sour cream, chives ect. Then for desert we took lots of apples and made apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. it was really fun and traditional plus yummmy............. so on the hole i would say do that but I would also have pumkin pie with cinnamon that's like, the best!
enjoy your halloween,
elo. will look for more traditional halloween foods for you.

Maybe not for dinner, but for dessert, we usually have a "dirt cake" or "dirt cupcakes". All that's involved, is a pre-mixed cake mix with pudding, chocolate frosting, some Milano cookies (Pepperidge Farm), oreo's, and some gummy worms. Make the cake as directed ( a 9x13 pan gives the best effect), and frost when it's cooled. Crush up the oreos, and sprinkle over the top of the frosting. Insert the cookies half-way and frost (they become head stones). Then just insert some of the gummy worms half-way into the "dirt". There you are! I can't remember where I got the recipe from, but we always make it. For a variation, you could get a can of vanilla frosting, and mix a little of it with some food coloring to make it grey. Paint the "headstones" to make it look more realistic. Have fun!

I have never heard of anyone really planning anything special to eat on Halloween as its not really that kind of holiday. If you are having a party then eat party foods. If you want it more formal then make a more formal meal. Its not like Thanksgiving where you would most likely eat turkey.

We always have Hot Dogs and mac & cheese [ get as much fat in those little bellies to slow down the absorption of the sugar they will be stuffing in] . Then go trick or treating. For adults there is always a party some where! The food works well on adult beverages also.

We usually have Pizza delivered because it's always a rush to get dressed-up and go trick-or-treat.
If you are having a special dinner you want to be themed...Go for fall type foods like squash, pumpkin soup and pumpkin bread, stew or pot pie.
A fun party trick that involves food:
Make them close their eyes and touch cold spagetti and tell them it's guts, then have them touch peeled grapes and tell them it's eyeballs, hard breadsticks can be bones, tomato soup is blood etc...
Here are some more cute dinner recipies for a party:

Apples, pork, pumpkin, apple cider.
If you are over 18 or have your parents' permission you can try to commune with your ancestors, those who have gone before us. Lighting a candle to guide the souls who are wandering between the Veil to visit is always nice too. Make sure you leave a plate for the dead in honor of those who have gone before us.

Most people just have Pizza because it's quick and easy. It's not exactly a tradition though.
