It could be a virus. Open your anti-virus program and run a full scan.
It could be SpyWare. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

If something like pop-ups happen on your computer, then I suggest using a browser like AOL's new OpenRide. It featues a pop-up blocker that works very well. Also you can upper the popup blocking settings if you use Internet Explorer 6 or 7. It may be spyware. (I doubt it being a virus) Yahoo has a free antispyware tool you can download w/ their toolbar (which also happens to have a pop-up blocker) at toolbar.yahoo.com
Best of Luck...

it sounds like something has creeped on to ya computer and the best thing out there is norton antivirus. i have it on my computer and it works superbly. you do have to buy the sotware and install it on your computer but the results are so worth it...also norton lets you scan your computer every week.. now for my computer it takes around 25 mins. but it picks up every little thing that is getting harm to your computer and especially since i download music it is a great deal.. it also helped with the pop ups... they are down at least 95%. Now i will get them now and then but they dont put harm on your computer and delete everything u r typing... hope this helps you... so just remember Norton Internte Security 2005 or if they have it get 2006... it will have so many updated things
i also recomend putting Adaware on your computer. it helps if your computer is running slow and it pics up little things hiddin in files that can also harm your computer. I have it on ALL my computers along with the norton internet security 2005
p.s. Dont join any clubs or get anything offline it probably will put more **** on your computer

You will need an antivirus, an antispyware, and a firewall on your pc. In case you do not have, here is a suggestion.
AVG free antivirus, Ewido(Now called AVG free antispyware), Zonealarm free firewall.
http://free.grisoft.com
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
Post the question again if the problem remains after you install and run these three software.

if you have windows xp click on start and goto run, in the run box type in "msconfig" once u click enter or ok a system configuration utility will open up, along the top click on the startup tab on the far right and at the bottom of that screen click disable all... it will clear all the checkmarks out of the boxes. then click ok and restart the cpmputer.
