molecules are basically an assembly of atoms. take water for example: H20, which means two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. i recommend just googling it, and you'll probably get better answers.

In chemistry, a molecule is an aggregate of two or more atoms in a definite arrangement held together by chemical bonds [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. Chemical substances are not infinitely divisible into smaller fractions of the same substance: a molecule is generally considered the smallest particle of a pure substance that still retains its composition and chemical properties.[6] Certain pure substances (e.g., metals, molten salts, crystals, etc.) are best understood as being composed of networks or aggregates of atoms or ions instead of molecular units.
In the molecular sciences, a molecule is a sufficiently stable, electrically neutral entity composed of two or more atoms.[7] The concept of a single-atom or monatomic molecule, as found in noble gases, is used almost exclusively in the kinetic theory of gases, where the fundamental gas particles are conventionally termed "molecules" regardless of their composition. a molecule is more than one atom combined.
a substance of the same atoms can be called a molecule or element.
a compound is more than 1 type of atom combined 2gether.
a compound is a molecule but a molecule isn't always a compound.

Molecules are "intimate" combination of elements.
H is an element.
H2 is a molecule.
S is an element
O is an element
SO2 is a molecule.

molecules are usually two or more atoms of the same element or different elements put together. For example, N2, Br2, H2, H20..., they are called diatomic, triatomic... polyatomic; however, they must be bonded by covalent bonds, not ionic or metallic

a molecule is the smallest part of a substance, that keeps the proprieties of that substance and can exist independently (unlike atoms, for exmple, that can rarely be found on their own in nature..)

In looking at chemical formulas, it is usually easy to identify ionic compounds. Anything which contains a metal or NH4+ ion is nearly always ionic. Everything else is molecular.
