Well, I suppose it is possible that some enterprising Brit has found a gullible American and persuaded him into _thinking_ he's bought the Palace.
After all, a couple of decades ago, a wealthy (but clearly not too bright) cousin bought the old London Bridge thinking he'd actually purchased Tower Bridge.

Boy, was he disappointed!
