iTunes is the only software that allows you to transfer songs from your computer to your iPod. The iTunes software itself is free. You can import CDs you own into iTunes, and also add any other music you might have on your computer. If you have iTunes installed and put music on it, you should just be able to plug in your iPod nano and the software will walk you through the steps.

Integrated with the software is the iTunes store. This is an option for purchasing downloaded music that costs $0.99 a song, usually $9.99 an album. You don't HAVE to use the iTunes store to get music. If you do, it's in a specialized format called AAC (Apple Audio Content) If you buy music off the iTunes store, you can play it on your computer but only with iTunes, put it on your iPod but no other brand of mp3 player, and burn up to 10 CDs, I think. You can't share this file format with others because there is some built-in copyright protection.

Songs cost money, but the program Itunes doesn't cost anything. Your nano should have come with an installation CD. Go ahead and install Itunes. It's the only way to get songs.

To be able to buy songs you have to enter credit card information. Itunes will ALWAYS tell you what a song costs, and will ALWAYS ask you to approve the purchase before it downloads the song.

It is pretty simple. Your ipod should come with software that you put in your computer, you also have the cord that connects your ipod to your computer. Step by step the software tells you what to do to get started. Once you've done that itunes is on your computer and you can download music. It does cost money to download songs, it ranges from .99 cents per song or more or you can buy an artists whole cd and that is usually cheaper than buying it at the store. You can also upload your own cd's to your ipod and that, of course, won't cost you anything.

Yes, ITunes does cost money to download songs, usually 99 cents a download. You do not have to get your songs from there to put them on your IPOD Nano. If you have songs already on your computer, you should be able to drag and drop them onto your Ipod. Also you can use filesharing programs to get more songs. Just becareful not to download viruses or collect too many or the RIAA will find ya!

Yeah but it's only 99 cents a song or 9.99 per album. That's pretty friggin cheap compared to the music store - plus it's legit - anytime a person downloads music that isn't paid for makes that person a thief.
