Meeting people from other cultures like Svetlana from Kherson in the Ukraine, whom I'd never have met except by going to Crete (the Greek island). Multilingual meeting.

Hassle of commercial air flights with their endless queues and getting up at or arriving at unearthly hours of the night.

The majesty and serene colours and shapes of Bryce Canyon, Kodachrome State Park and Arches National Park.
