How do you get Bronchitis and Pneumonia? I mean I know the whole mumbo-jumbo about bacteria getting in your lungs and all that but how does it get there. What factors cause it like being outside in the cold for too long or what? I know you can catch it from someone who has it but how do they get it in the first place?

Well, often the bacteria is there is the first place, the air we breathe is full of bacteria, dust, fungal spores, airborn viruses, you name it. Most of the time, either your respitatory (via mucous secretions and the cilia the force mucous away from your lungs) and your immune system take care of all of that and you never notice it, but sometimes the right bacteria finds the right climate and is able to reproduce and cause illness.
Often, if there are no obvious sick contacts in someone with bronchitis or pneumonia, it's a bit of a waste of time to look for the cause, there are many possible causes, and it doesn't change to treatment at all.
I know that probably isn't the answer you're looking for, but honestly, most of the time we never really know the exact source of a respiratory infection.
