get a repair man in or you will freeze to death this winter, mine is not working good right now either, if you have a "sensor" outside, remove it, or it could be on piggy back, that's heat miser, mine was put on by mistake by last repairman, it means that no matter how high you turn your furnace, you are still not going to get anymore heat an it just goes on an off, anyway, you do need a service man, good luck!

Depends a bit on how long it takes for the thing to shut off. If it's a few seconds, the sensor that says "there's flame, we can keep sending gas" is not working. If it's a couple of minutes, the high limit switch may be shutting it down (and the guess about the blower now working may be correct). Furnaces are wired in a number of different ways depending on whether there is a pilot light and ignition source. Probably time for a service call.

in case you have a ninety+ Furnace then it has a plastic flue pipe & a Combustion or Inducer motor. this variety of gadget often has a drain on it because of the fact the flue gases are so cool that as they are going out the flue they produce condensation. it often runs water on start up & on close down. according to probability that's what you're listening to.If the furnace drain is tied into the abode drain, you're listening to the water working into the drain. in basic terms thank you to remedy this project is to have a drain for the furnace drain into something else. Do you have a floor drain close to to the furnace? if so, percentpipe may well be ran to the floor drain. wish this permits.

Most likely the flame sensor needs cleaned. If it lights by a hot surface ignitor (gets bright orange to light the burners) look on the opposite side of the burner box from the HSI, (for example, if the HSI is on the right, the flame sensor is on the far left side of the burners) and you should see a small metal rod sticking out of a porcelain piece. This is the flame sensor. Remove it and sand it lightly (BE GENTLE! and please don't try to sand the ignitor.lol)
put it back in and you should be ready for heat.

Sounds like the blower is shot. The blower overheats and trips the safety switch. When it cools it cycles again.
