P.S. One is a male and one a female. The female has black dots all over its tail.

We have to use special names. Not people names.

Sushi and Hoki
I had a goldfish called sushi... can't remember if i made it up myself or stole it from Zak McKracken & The Alien Mindbenders :) ... it's raw fish, after all. It's a cute name I think.
And Hoki because I recently found out that a pack of oven-bake fish I picked up at the supermarket was "Hoki". Some kind of japanese thing that's a lot like Cod. Never realised the stocks were getting so low. But that's also a nice cute name... and if the kids misspell it as Hokey (and Sooshy) then why not.
So sushi for the "girl" (if you're sure about that! didn't think it was possible to "sex" goldfish unless you saw them spawning) and hoki for the "boy"
or variations... sasha... haku... sophie... hank... :)

here is a suggestion.. take the names of all the kids in the class and put them in a hat and then have someone choose two.. that way the kids feel speical having their names chosen. Or it could be a reward for the two children that do the most good work etc? or it could be the name of the school or its principles or head masters etc..u could just go with names taken from movies like beauty and the beastor books u are reading in class..? Hope any of these helps....

My brother had a goldfish we got from a fair one year. Y'know the ones that usually die after a week? He was three when we had to move so we sold him to the pet shop our friend owned. My brother's favorite singer is Elvis so thats what he named his goldfish.
But since you dont want 'people names' I'd say
male: Flash, Flicker (the scales flash or flicker when he moves)
female: Perdy (101 dalmations) Dusti ( i use 'i' to make it more feminine)

I do like your Names! Is Houdini stable at leaping out?! I definitely have 11 white cloud minnows all talked approximately as jim 3 bristle nostril catfish all talked approximately as Raymond or ray for short. A male woman pair of Australian empire gudgon talked approximately as bruce and sheila and 2 gold loaches talked approximately as Arnold. I call the comparable species the comparable call Coz they are confusing to tell aside. Oh and a Cory catfish talked approximately as Natalie she's named after my female buddy!
