I've read that you should wait until your 2nd trimester. Maybe wait a month to be sure. I've also heard & read that the "not to dye your hair while pregnant" is a myth.

You'll want to look this up, but, if memory serves, the original concerns about hair colouring and pregnancy came from only darker colours. I THINK the initial scare may've been because some hair dyes, especially fast-acting dark ones, contained a wee bit of lead. (See 'Just for Men' colouring, for example.)
Everything I've read suggests highlights are quite safe -- not going darker, it's not touching your scalp; no worries. Still, if you are worried, I concur with the advice to wait until you're safely into the 2nd trimester.

According to the experts, full hair COLORING is discouraged, as the dye is applied directly on the scalp and the chemicals can be absorbed into your blood stream (no one really knows/can prove how that affects the fetus... but obviously, doctors note this risk factor.)
However, if you're only gettting HIGHTLIGHTS, that is said to be OK because the chemicals aren't applied directly to your scalp and there is much less risk of chemical absorption into the body.
I got highlights while I was pregnant and it was fine. My baby is 9 months old now. :-)

To be safe you should wait until the middle of your second trimester. You are still in your first and they really recommend that you don't during your first trimester because your hormones are really out of whack. You could end up with highlights in a color that you didn't necessarily want. I would recommend waiting until your fifth or sixth month. You will be happier with the results.

coloring your hair is safe after the 1st trimester , but dont over do it just enough to keep your roots from showing and after you have the baby than you can do any dramactic changes then.

There are natural hair dyes that you can get from natural food stores. I wouldn't use regular dye. I have heard it is not good to use while pregnant.

as far as i know it is but it is usually pretty much a waste of time as due to the increase in hormones dyes dont tend to grip the hair to well and tend to fade quickly hope this helps you a little :)

by 12 weeks they cant find evidence that coloring your hair does adversly effects the fetus and most doctors will tell you its safe.
On the other hand, they havent found that the chemicals DONT effect the fetus either.
