No. Related story: some young teen girls had a scam going on around here. They would get picked up by a solitary man, and then tell him they would go to the police and say he sexually assaulted them (their 2 testimonies against him). Before anyone thinks this is a good idea the teens met someone who gave them a special ride...right to the local police station.
So as you can see there's more than just the obvious things to worry about with hitchhikers

Some years past, travelling round the North Circular with my boss in his Jag, we gave a lift to chap who immediately gave us a lecture on the cost to the environment of running this vehicle. This turned out to be a very short hitch for the chap who was kicked out at the next lay-by. I have not picked up a hitchhiker since.

No, a bit too risky really in this day and age and to tell you the truth its yonks since I've seen one either, the only thing we have ever done is pick a guy up carrying a petrol can, it was pouring down and the nearest garage was nearly 2 miles from were his car had broken down, couldn't see him walking all that way in the rain and we even took him back to his car, thinking about it guess we were either a bit daft or just too kind cause he could have been a mad man but were still alive and he was very grateful.

I used to do so until a girl told me to take her somewhere out of my way or she would scream rape. I stopped the car and kicked her out on the road and considered myself VERY lucky I got away form that one.

Do I want to face the possibility of letting a serial killer on and having him strangle me, rape me, and then throw me off my car while he drives away in it? I don't think so!!!
