I am freaking out and need some insight. All I know is that she was just diagnosed yesterday and now surgery is scheduled for Monday. Mom says don't worry but I'm hysterical! She is 54. Why surgery so soon? HELP!

Breathe deep and long for reducing your anxiety. Pray. There are some things not in your control (eg, healing, recovery). Be with her when she is prepping for the op. No need for any words, just keep breathing long and deep, consciously. Hold her hand, assure her she'll be alright (even if you don't know what's the outcome), pray, and pray some more....

Get plenty sleep yourself over the weekend.

God bless.

The surgery is to remove any cancerous areas. There is an herbal liquid called Essiac which has been reported to help fight cancer cells. This remedy has been around for years and can be found in the herbal medicine section of a pharmacy. I bought this for my mother when she had bone cancer and it helped to stop the cancer. She had not been taking chemo for 3 months when the cancer stopped. I do believe in it.
By the way, I am in Canada. Check out google.com and type in Essiac. You will get information on the product. Good luck to your mom and to you. My prayers are with you both.

ovarian cancer is frequently diagnosed late in the process, so quick surgery is the rule. Of course she says dont worry, shes your mother. Try to calm down, being nuts wont help anything. Ask her if she wants or needs anything special..a nice dinner out or something might be a thought.

she will be okay. My mom had ovarian cancer too. She went in and they used a lazer to remove the cysts. She was in her 30's. She was able to go to work the next day and she had a baby a few years later. This is why you should ALWAYS go get a yearly check up at the gyno. They check for ovarian/cervical cancer because it is genetic. If you are young, you should start going to the gyno at age 17-18. She'll be fine, dont worry!!

The reason why surgery is recommended is catch the cancer so it won't spread anywhere throughout the body quickly and the ovaries too. My heart goes out to your family and everything will be okay.

Because it is a serious condition and the sooner they get it out the better. Hopefully they will find that she is not as sick as they may believe now.
