Actually they should be non issues and should never be used to pick a quality representative. The government should never legislate morality, we know what happens with our own example of Prohibition. These decisions should be left up to each individual, and not to the community around them. It is the ol' walk a mile in my shoes thing. It is best answered in our Church's and in our own hearts with God being the judge of such things. Education would play an role in this as there are better contraceptive measures then abortion. As far as gay marriage maybe it is not such a bad idea, why shouldn't gay people be as miserable as straight folks. (joke heard on Letterman) Maybe I should go to bed earlier.

This is a difficult question to answer. However.

1. I do not think that the issues of gay marriage and/or abortion is the concern of the country or nation.

2. Gay marriage is single and the individuel choice of each person. Why is it our business what goes on in a person's bedroom? Why do we care? I am more concerned and have written articles on my concern of the status of children and the very large problem with pedophilism and child abuse! Why do we ingore these large issues America? Children are defenceless when someone is raping and harming them. It is up to us as a society, country and nation to protect all children no matter what their socio-economic enviroment is, or what colour they happen to be!! If people of the same gender choose to be in a union and want to get married, it is none of our business. period!! The only time I would be concerned is if minors are involved!

Abortion again, is not anyone's business. It is the women's decision, clearly if a women chooses not to carry a child full term, then they are more likely not to be a good parent, if forced to. Having said that, I also don't think that Abortion should be used as a contreceptive. There are plenty of birth control methods out there, however, I will not dictate to anyone person on what is clearly their right to deceide. I will give you a good example on how the state intererred on an abortion issue. Going back some years ago, a 12 year old was pregnant. She became pregnant because her step-father raped and molested her over the course of 1 year. The biological mother of the child and the child herself wanted to get an abortion. The judge denied the application, because he felt the child would be frightened and psychologically disabled by the event. My own feeling is wouldn't a 12 yr old who has been raped and now forced to carry an child that conceived by rape, would she not be psycologically disabled, frightened and scared. It should not of been the Judge's or law's choice. Considering the specific facts of the case!

I feel that these and most other issues are left up to the states. We have the federal government into too many areas of our lives and I think this needs to change. Gay marriage and abortion should be voted upon by the population of each state. Frankly I think the only things the federal government should do are take care of the highways, provide for the common defense and deliver the mail. Imagine how much our federal taxes would go down if this is what they did. All other areas should be up to the citizens of the individual states. This also means that the US congress could meet way less often and we would not have to pay them the small fortunes they get now. Yes most state taxes would go up but because the state governments are closer to their populations I would be willing to bet we would still end up with more of our own money.

We cast Our votes when we elected politicians into office. They always seem to change when they get into office. But that's the way it is.
As far as gay marriage,I don't condone it because I feel it will break down the family system that God created and will break down the value of morals for Our children. I could care less what consenting adults do but as a country we shouldn't stand behind something that is morally wrong.
As far as abortion goes, There are numerous ways to keep from getting pregnant, If nothing else don't participate in having sex. No one has the right to kill a child. I'm Pro Life for innocent children.

We have greater issues to be concerned about. To spend all this time on these issues is not making us safer.

I really don't think gay marriage hurts anyone and I abhor abortion, especially as a method of birth control, but people are going to do what people are going to do.

National Security must be our #1 concern right now and NO ONE seems to have the answer.

China and Russia will dilute anything we try to do and the ultra liberals worry more about the enemies rights than the safety of the Country.

The supreme court has decided on abortion. So if we vote it down are they going to overturn our vote? I do not call Gay marriage a major issue. They can have a civil union in some states, let them go there. Should we allow people to start marrying their dog, cows, goats or sheep? Same category in my book. Marriage is a unity under God. So Gay Marriage is an oxymoron.

What a brilliant question. Its one that I ask myself each and every so often. With each and every of the themes dealing with the rustic on better half and little ones themes which includes social secure practices and human beings who you record how is it that there is time to make one in all those vast deal out of abortion and gays. the rationalization is that for our elected officers it takes no artwork, and its a political warm button. fixing actual issues takes attempt and compromise and each now and then statesmanship, and we've had little or no of any of that for an prolonged time. As for the final public, pay attention to speak radio. that's consumer-friendly to fireside up hate in case you spin the undertaking sufficient. Social secure practices themes, healthcare, and the financial device do no longer lend themselves to sound bites. They take some theory and study, and maximum human beings want sound bites, as damaging to theory and study.

Is gay marriage a major issue? Nah, it's Karl Rove's invention to motivate the hard right. Shouldn't the government be out of our bedrooms regardless?

Otherwise having a countrywide referendum type system on issues seems impractical. There's so much regional difference in opinion.
