I am trying to print from Word. I click print and it brings up the save as box and wont print? I have tried all that I can think of. I have recently formatted my comp and installed the printer again. Please help as I run a small business and cant print any invoices.

Not to sound like a smart mouth. These are questions I ask clients when I am trouble shooting printing issues.
Have you rebooted computer and printer? Have you tried printing a test page? Have you checked to make sure the cable from printer to computer is fully plugged in? What shows up when you look at the printer under setting/control panel? Do you have the correct printer driver installed?

If you are running XP you can use the Printing Troubleshooter to find out what is causing this.

A couple of questions for you. Have you set your printer to be your default printer?

Is it the 'Print to File' box that appears?

You say that you recently formatted your PC so it may be a registry problem.

If you are using Windows XP unplug your printer and shut down your PC. Reconnect your printer and see if XP locates new hardware.

If it does not then it may well be worth getting it to the PC Doc.

Some of the above are good suggestions, but the true cause here is that your default printer in Word is set to an output file. You need to open the Printer settings and set the default printer to a real printer.

Instead of clicking the Print icon on your word toolbar, have you tried File>>>Print option?

Hi,
Just press ctrl+P. if not then there may be a possibilty of virus threat, or older version of MS OFFICE
Try this to get rid og the virus
1> type stinger(network)
2> access listed mcafee sits , downloade stinger.exe (its totally free of small size 1.09 Mb)
3> scan entire system with it.

remove MS OFFICE completely. Try MS-OFFICE 2003 /XP its best.
