stop feeding it??? Get him some slim fast and tell him to excersize instead of watching TV!

If the turtle is way too big for the shell, i mean bigger than it should have been, than that'a a problem.
If the turtle is just the right size and the shell is too small, just go to the vet to get the medicine for it;s growth. It can be solve quite easily.
The turtle can't be growing too fast because the shell grows with the body. You can try to slim it down or there's one possibility that there's a growth somewhere inside which you don't know.
If there's a growth, you have to make sure that the shell is strong. Don't brush the shell, i think that if you scrb it with a brush or toothbrush, something bad will happen to it, it did away with my baby tortise.

Turtles can become obese just like othe animals and humans. This can cause the turtle to swell up and cause injuries to internal organs from the shell. Please read this site as it will give you all the information you need on the subject and how to remedy the problem and also prevent it from happening in the future.

Diet and exercise. Go out and get some turtle exercise equipment ( The turtle bow-flex and cross-trainer).

I agree with some of your responders here. your turtle's shell should grow with the turtle. there is definately somthing wrong here and you should take him to a vet. he will probably die if something isn't done fast about the situation.

turtles grow along with their shells,if you turtle has swollen then he or she needs to see a vet.sounds like this turtle has had a reaction to something

diet and exsersize it will die if it gets WAY to big for its shell!
