Inkjet: Generally cheap to buy, but expensive to run. Ink can smear when it gets wet. This is the least expensive way to get color printouts. But many people are fooled. You can get Photos reprinted cheaper at CVS or Walgreens then you can by doing it yourself.
Laser: For black and white printing, this is cheap, fast and reliable. Laser printers cost more, but this pays-off quickly. Color Laser printers are very expensive to have and run. It does not use INK and the toner is more resistant to water stains. Unfortunately, very OLD laser printouts start to lose the toner.
For very long term storage of photos: BURN it on a CD-R, using the Close Session or Finalize Disk option. These should last for 50 years or more when stored properly.
