I would love take trip in january during my chilren school winter break. In michigan where we are from.

I suggest Traverse City where they have some Wolf Lodge that is an indoor water park/hotel place that is very popular with kids. You can probably find ice skating/sledding outside there too. You may be able to find a less expensive hotel in the area and just use/pay for the water park as a day activity.
