Yes, in fact, I recommend it.
When you use Disk Cleanup, PICK everything that it shows in the list, so you delete everything.
Then run DEFRAG and defrag your whole drive. You might even DEFRAG again.
If you are using Windows XP with the NTFS file system, Disk Cleanup and DEFRAG work great. In the OLD DAYS, defrag had some problems, but the new versions work great.
HEY, you should be backing up your important stuff. Your computer WILL NOT live forever. You never know when your hard drive will DIE, or you get a nasty virus that eats the whole thing.

It is very safe and is good housekeeping to do this once in awhile as it enables more disc space and speeds up the use of your computer. The defragmentation is just an electronic filing system which rearranges the files into neater blocks which the computer finds easier to read. The disc clean-up does a similar thing except it takes away the information that is no longer required ie:If you uninstalled a program but everything was not deleted during this process, disc clean-up removes this. It will not remove any files or programs so is totally safe to use.

I use defragmentation quite regularly, it is just a way of putting every thing in order, so as to optimise the place on your hard disc, and to clean up the disc is just a way of getting rid of all the TEMPORARY files that were needed when you went back and forth on the net, they are no longer needed, So you can safely clean up and defragment as it will not remove or destroy any files or folders or programmes, hope this helps. Also if you use the net a lot they can build up to a lot of wasted space which you can use for other things , especially if you have an older computer with a small hard disc.

You should always back up important documents off your pc. Get a removeable hard drive and keep it in a safe place way from your pc. You can also burn files to cd. Your hard drive can fail without warning.
I wouldn't use disc cleanup if you're uncertain, but disc defragmenter is needed to keep the hard drive tidy. It makes your pc faster as it is easier to find and load programs and files.

Yes it's safe. You won't lose anything at all. It will make your computer run faster and it will repair bad registry.
Disc cleanup just gets rid of junk you don't need-temp files, recycle bin, etc. You can choose what to cleanup.

Yes it really is safe to defragment and use disc cleanup on your computer to keep all your files in the correct place and you will find your computer works far more safer and quicker in doing so. It is like doing your housework in your home and you must keep up with it regular about every two months.

Absolutely, in fact highly recommended unless you want your PC to run slow. You can as has already been said, back up important files onto another hard drive. If you don't want to go to the expense of buying another hard drive you could always save the files onto a CD for future reference, in fact it may be a good idea to do this with all files on your PC from time to time just in case your PC crashes and you cannot retrieve the files from it.

Disk clean up and defrag is safe.
I have used these facilities many times with no problems - they shouldnt be used too often though. They are a maintainance procedure and too much use could cause problems. If your machine is slowing down use it along with anti virus and anti spyware programs they will all help.
