I lived in Indiana for about 10 years. Indianapolis, W Lafayette and a very small town in northwest Indiana. I liked W Lafayette - Purdue U is there and I liked Indianapolis. I hated the small town but I would hate a small town anywhere I lived. I prefer larger cities where I can be a little more anonymous. There are lots of corn and soybean farmers in Indiana. Southern Indiana has a better landscape than northern Indiana. Northern Indiana is FLAT. Depending upon where in Western Indiana you are going to live there are day trips or weekend trips to various big cities - Chicago, Indianapolis (of course), Evansville (not a BIG city). If you are near Evansville you are close to Kentucky Lake which is beautiful.

Use to live in Indiana, it is ok, but we moved to Tennessee to get away from the higher property taxes and also the winters, we lived just west of Ft. Wayne Indiana five miles west of Columbia City Indiana, are you going to be in the North West our Southern part of Indiana? In the summer there is a huge flea market called Shipshewana, it is fun to go to, but will take a whole day to get thru, when we lived there it was almost a five mile walk to do the whole market up and down every isle. Indiana Beach use to be fun to go to, and of course the Indy 500. In September there is the Blueberry Festival at Plymouth Indiana, this is definately worth going to, also the Johnny Appleseed Festival in Kendalville and the Grabill fair, these are closer to the east side of Indiana. If you look hard enough you can find stuff to do.

Indiana is a typical "midwestern" state. Pretty laid back, nothing too outrageous (except at one race track every year). If you want to get out of the rat race this would not be too bad a state, but it is not growing as quickly as many other areas.

Seriously there is not much to do in Indiana, I hope you are relocating to city and not a rural community or are located close to a major city. It's the midwest...what do you expect?
