Get Suave .99 cents Walgreens.

Anything you make you will have to rinse or you will stink. Mayo, eggs, olive oil, all will be greasy and you will stink.

You will stink.

Old Fashioned Methods:

Once or 2x a month - try olive oil just a little in your hand to put on split ends and moisturize your hair, work it through slowly and leave it on with a plastic cap if you have one for about 15 minutes to 1/2 hour....it also works wonders on your face and removes blackheads and bumps from your skin....then wash hair and face with a very mild shampoo & mild soap.
.....they still sell "hot oil treatments" at the store but you don't get the best oil which is olive oil....which doesn't hurt the skin or hair, and washes out nicely.

If you hair is damaged, you could try this 1 x per week for about a month, and then 1 x a month, then once or twice a year...usually winter and summer when our hair gets damaged....Many stars get warm oil treatments for their skin and hair.

The dollar store and grocery store sell inexpensive conditioner that you can use every day....I believe the brand is suave..and it works as well as the others that are 3 or 4 x the money.

Fabric softener is very bad as someone suggested because it is not to be used near your eyes....that could cause an infection. So don't try remedies that are bad for the skin & face.

Also, people used MILK yes milk to condition their hair but that I never tried.
