I have a level 7 and a level 4 monster in my hand.
I already have a level 4 monster on the field.
I summon my level 4 monster from my hand to the field.
Can I now tribute those 2 level 4 monsters on the field and summon my level 7 monster?
Or do I have to wait until my next turn?

(I'm sick of my 8 year old son beating me at this and need help!)

You have to wait until your next turn. You only get on Normal summon or Set per turn. There are a few exceptions.

1. You can use Soul Exchange to tribute one of you son's monsters as well as your own monster. Though you have to give up your combat phase.

2. Ultimate Offering allows you any number of Normal Summons at the cost of 500 life points for each additional Normal Summon.

3.There's a new field card called Masoleum of The Deceased Emperor that lets you Normal Summon tribute monsters without tributing. You just pay 1000 life points per monster it would take to tribute for the tribute monster. Example: If you have a Dark Magician in your hand you pay 2000 life points and Normal Summon it.

You have to wait until your next turn, sadly. The only other way to summon a level 7 from your hand if you only have one monster on the field is to use magic cards like Cost Down or Soul Exchange. Hope that helps!

Back to the olden days, where the Duelist Kingdom arc had started, the game was just newly developed and it had the basic Pokemon ruling, as people might say, Fire beats Grass, Water beats Fire, etc. In this case, Yugi summoned Summon Skull and use the electricity to kill Weevil's Ultimate Moth in an instant. The rules were confusing, and suddenly powerful monsters can be summoned without Tributes etc. So when the OCG/TCG were developed in real life, Konami/UDE had restricted the rulings to make it a fair game to play, which is why we have to Tribute a monster to Tribute summon a monster. But then again, Yugioh GX have revisited the rules of the real life card game and follow through with it. Yugioh 5D's remains the same also, with the weird new synchros and tuners in place. Stardust Dragon is a cool card, though but yeah, that's another story.

If I remember correctly yes you can but you can also go to www.yu-gi-oh.com for a currant list of rules. Best thing to do is find a hobby league near you. The store I own runs them weekly. I don't know where you live but if you visit www.elitecardsandgaming.com there should be links to sites that can help.

I think you should give up Yugioh. It's become something of an obsession for you and him. You are the parent; rid him of this addiction.

(Change the rules on him, win, and destroy the game....FOREVER!!!)
