I think the bible was written by Jews and at a time they were very patriarchal society. But you could make your own interpretation...

For me women are really different, they can excel at things men can't, in many fields they can be as good as man, and in other not quite so, why do you want to be equal?

There's a saying that "women who want to be like men lack ambition .."

For the appeal question: a not too powerful, more feminine (that is all in right balance) female is more attractive to me.

I think that we are equal, in potential. Some women are better than most men at "manly things" and some men make way better parents than certain mothers. Equality will only truely arrive when we are free of stereotypes and prejudice in this world. Preconceptions and stereotypes are plenty for both men and women. Gender roles exist but they don't need to be followed.

"man" means mankind, ie human species
the English word "man" and "men" originally came from German language, where they had two similar words, "man"
and "mensch" (human), menschen (all people, humans). The adoption of that word and use afterwords in English language got sloppy, and we still sometimes say man or mankind meaning human species, not intending to mean males only.
Oh, and it works both ways...males are very often trying to prove our capabilities too, trying to show off how well we play sports, how much money or job status we can earn, try to prove to women that we can be good... oh, and we males don't really always like male bosses who are heavy handed too.

God is neither male nor female. Females are created through Adam's right rib. We are from man, who is from God. We are equal, but society made men to be superior. But as wives, women are to be subjected to their husbands. We must be respectful and good women. Then we will recieve the blessin of God. He loves everyone. Male or female, black or white, child or adult. Regardless of what u've done!

If you switch to Genesis 2:4, the second half of a short verse, the creation story changes. God in no longer Yahweh, it is Elohim (which is plural). Read on thru the second creation story and you will find the statement "let us make man and woman in our own images." The list of plurals there, and the plural Gods of Elohim, should satisfy that God created woman in her own image.

I think "man" refers to "humans" in the Bible. And I don't think the two sexes would ever be equal, because they fulfil different things in life, and people will always judge others on the ground of their sex, or even sexuality. But we can get very close to equal, we just won't be completely equal.

Both men and women can never be equal. We have different roles but both equally important. (The head needs the neck to move in different directions and they both are important)

Equal? We are made different, to be different. Why not just be great as we are. We don't have to be reasonable, we are women!
