I'm writing a psychology paper. I have to write about a psychological disorder explaining its symptoms, and etc. Then I have to choose a character in a movie that has this disorder. I then need to identify his/her disorder (the character) and explain why this person's disorder could be identified with the disorder I researched. Where the hell do I insert my THESIS statement?? In the begining I will be introducing the actual disorder then I plan to slowly introduce my character, but where oh where does that thesis statement go?!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Your thesis statement goes in the first (or sometimes, the second) paragraph of your paper, no matter what CITATION style you are using.

(APA is a citation style, not a paper-structuring style.)

I understand that you want to describe the disorder first, but you really cannot. You must state your argument first. Example:

"In the film Sybil, the lead character suffers from multiple personality disorder."

Then you can describe the disorder, then you can illustrate (point-by-point, using examples from the film) why you think this character could be diagnosed with this disorder.

yes your thesis goes in your introductory paragraph. No the thesis isnt a paragraph itself. The point of your introductory paragraph is to introduce what you will be covering in the essay. The thesis STATEMENT(not paragraph) will include your three support details for the rest of the essay. The thesis statement is just a sentence. For example: "The life of the typical college student is charecterized by time spent studying, attending classes, and socializing with peers." Following the intro. paragraph you would explain how students spend their time studying, attending class and socailizing with others. The thesis just tells the reader what to expect from your essay.
