with newcastle pushing for compinsation for the injury to owen and rafa kicking off about losing kuyt . also most teams lose their african stars when the african cup starts. should teams be compinsated or should they accept the risk of signing top class players as they know they are international players and their profile helps the clubs as well

Newcastle don't have to push for compensation for Owen, England already have insurance that compensates clubs if their players get injured while on England duty.

Unfortunately the rest of the world is lagging behind in this.

But the clubs should also be taking part of the responsibility.

They buy in players BECAUSE THEY ARE INTERNATIONAL CLASS and then complain because they are picked for internationals.

They can't have it both ways.

The clubs should be compensated if their players are injured while playing for their country. They should be compensated for the wages whilst he is unable to play (due to fitness) but nothing more. I would imagine the insurance structure that the FA have in place should cover this.

Absolutely not!!! Its part of the game, and teams know there is that risk if they sign international class players.

Its ridiculous...the next thing is fans will start demanding compensation if their team lose!!
